Winner of the Food Network’s Extreme Chef competition in 2012, Chef French enthralled audiences in audacious locations and tantalized taste buds in improbably Spartan conditions, conjuring up dishes from only slightly more substantive ingredients than thin air. Making this culinary sleight of hand possible is a kaleidoscopic background that saw the good Chef serving in the U.S. Navy and nine years as first mate on a sport-fishing boat before graduating from Scottsdale Culinary Institute and apprenticing in continental, European and Asian cuisine.
